We launched a rocket from a test site in Texas (this is the usual launch complex of Elon MUSK's company). The rocket launched perfectly in all parameters, reached an altitude of 10 km and descended back. This type of rocket has a controlled landing.

Sometimes the landing is successful, and sometimes not, but the number of failures in this direction is steadily reduced.
What actually happened in this last and unsuccessful flight, even the engineering service does not know yet. According to the company's engineer John Insprucker, everything worked perfectly during takeoff. The height of 10 km was gained in 4 minutes, then the stage hovered a little and began to decline.
The ship took a horizontal position before descending and began to plan in the direction of the landing complex, and already on approach all the braking engines should have turned on and the spent stage should have landed successfully. But it so happened that not all the braking engines were turned on at the appointed time and it was not possible to deploy the rocket in time, as a result, it crashed into the Ground at an angle of 45 degrees. The explosion occurred at 386 seconds of flight.
In a sense, a similar flight took place at the end of last year 2020, when something similar happened, the engine also did not turn on in time and the ship crashed into the surface of the earth. The only difference was that the spacecraft was already in a vertical position, it seemed to be a more twisted and more successful trajectory than in the last case, when the 9th ship crashed..
Elon Musk is not discouraged, he again believes that the flight was successful to an altitude of 10 km, so that the project was 100% successful by the enterprise, it is still necessary to finalize the landing system. Not making mistakes and not correcting them later to fly with such a complex rocket into space is not a real occupation.
If the engineers find out this time the reason for such a late start of the engine and eliminate the reasons, it will be a real breakthrough in the StarShip project. A new test dummy is already ready in the hangar, and the ship with the 10th serial number will arrive at the launch site on January 29, 2021. At this time, the rocket is being prepared for flight and is looking for the reason that in the previous case led to an uncontrolled landing.
